
Born in Santa Ana, Ca. on January 20, 1923, Jack went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2003, and to join his wife of 48 years, Johnnie Louise Kitchen. After serving in the Merchant Marines, he owned his own television repair business on Artesia Blvd. in Redondo Beach. He then went to work for the Palos Verdes School District, where he retired after 23 years. A strong supporter of Redondo Beach City Council, he also proudly served on the Redondo Beach Historical Commission where he co-authored the book, ''Old Redondo''. He enjoyed working on the Preservation Committee for old homes in Redondo Beach. He served as a volunteer Fireman for Angeles Oaks Fire Department and was also a Redondo Beach Police Volunteer. Known as ''Papa'' to his family, he will be dearly missed. Jack is survived by his sister, Ruth Brock of Showlow, AZ; sons Jack David Kitchen of Redondo Beach, James Warren Kitchen (Marie) of Torrance, Mark Harlan Kitchen (Lisa Louise) of Los Angeles and daughter Karen Louise Jisonna (Louis) of Dominguez Hills. He is also survived by grandchildren Eric Sterling Uvaney (Patty), Michael Shawn Uvaney, Matthew James Kitchen, Jonathon James Kitchen, Kerry Joseph Kitchen and Laurrel Rose Kitchen, as well as great grand-daughter Emily Morgan Uvaney and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in his memory be made to your favorite charity. Visitation will be held tonight, Thursday, January 9, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at White and Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Blvd. in Redondo Beach. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 10, at 1:00 PM in the Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow with procession to Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
