James (Jim) Michael Allen, 58 years old, passed away on Sunday May 25th, 2025, at his home in Torrance, California, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 7th, 1966, in Santa Monica, California at St. John’s Hospital to his mother, Joan Santoro. As a young child, he enjoyed sports and was a part of any kind he could join. He quickly gravitated towards football, playing on the Varsity team for Culver City High School, where he would later coach. He was also very proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Culver City High School in 1984 and began attending the University of Southern California where he studied Geography.
In 1987, Jim met the love of his life, Vicky, while attending a Fraternity party at USC. The two became inseparable and in 1994, they were married. Jim and Vicky soon welcomed four children. Jim dedicated his life to not only his family but his career at the City of Redondo Beach where he worked for 26 years.
In 2014, Jim was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He courageously fought the disease, participating in any research studies he could, all in an effort to help find a cure. Continuing those efforts, Jim posthumously donated parts of his body to ALS research stating, “I want to help find a cure.”
He is survived by his Wife, Vicky; his four children, Sarah, James Jr., Kaitlyn, and Ethan; his mother, Joan, and all who knew and loved him. Jim’s legacy of resilience, laughter, and positivity will forever remain in the hearts of us all.
