Jane was born and raised on a farm in McCook, Nebraska, to Joseph and Josephine Spence. As a child she, along with her 3 brothers, rode together bareback on their one horse, back and forth to a small one room school house. After attending a boarding high school and graduating at 17, she completed her cosmetology training and worked in a salon for several years.
She met Doyle Pistole at a local dance in Littleton, Colorado, and her future was determined. They were soon married on May 19, 1938 and enjoyed sixty-five wonderful years together.
In her later years, she worked for her son Tom, managing his dental laboratory, until she was 95 years of age. At which time, she became legally blind and forced to retire.
Her passions included traveling, especially cruises, and ballroom dancing. If the cruise did not include a great dance band and a marvelous dance floor, she would pass it up for one that did.
Jane enjoyed a very long, healthy and happy life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle and her son-in-law, Alan El Faye. She is survived by her son, Tom Pistole, daughter, Jone Pistole El Faye, and grandchildren, Kimberly and Sean.
