Jeanne Roberts Hughes

Jeanne was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Sep. 2, 1921. There she grew up and married childhood sweetheart Joseph J."Chick" Hughes who was later employed by Southern Wine & Spirits. They moved to California where Jeanne began her 30 year career with U. S. Steel Sales as Secretary to the Manager of Sales. She was dearly loved by everyone for her spirited sense of humor and genuine love of people. After her retirement, she devoted much of her time to keeping her friends together by hosting a retirement luncheon every year. She also took up golf where she made a new group of friends. She wrote their monthly newsletter in her humerous style which was enjoyed by all. She also loved animals and took care of every stray kitty that came to her door. Jeanne will be deeply missed and will remain forever in our hearts.

A Mass will be held for Jeanne at American Martyr's Catholic Church at 11:30 AM on Saturday July 8th. The church is located at 624 15th Street, Manhattan Beach, CA.

Jeanne was preceded in death by husband, Joseph J. Hughes, parents, Ralph and Theo Roberts, and brother Bill Roberts.

She is survived by half-brothers Denny Roberts of Harlinger, TX and Mel Walsh of Christ Church, New Zealand, niece Deborah Baker of St. Paul, MN, nephew Michael Roberts, Plymouth, MN and cousins, Mary Mangerson, Pat Dunn, and Maura Trainer.
