John "Jack" Kenneth Dugan was born July 30, 1928, in Wabasha, and grew up in rural Kellogg. He joined the Army in 1949 and spent a year in Guam and five years in the active reserve. After returning from Guam he started working in machine shops in Lake City and Minneapolis. During that time he went to night school to become a machinist.
He married Betty Joyce Young in 1953 and settled in Southern California. He took night classes in engineering at Santa Monica College, eventually becoming a certified machinist and tool maker. He worked for Eemco for 49 years where he worked his way up to managing a team of engineers and machinists manufacturing sub-assemblies for aircraft, officially retiring in 2004.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Bill) French of Cardiff, Calif., Carol (Pete) D’Eath of Redondo Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, Forest, Sierra, Jason and Julie; one sister, Bernice (Maurice) Thorsen of Grand Meadow, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, parents, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
