When she was 12, Loretta moved to Los Angeles, Ca with her mother and siblings until she graduated Foshay Middle School in 1965. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her family where she attended Paseo High School, graduating in 1968.
After graduating High School Loretta and her family decided to relocate back to Los Angeles, Ca.
During her early adulthood she began working for Sears.
Loretta welcomed her first child, Carmen in December 1971 and her second child, Chanel in April 1974.
After having her first two children she realized she wanted to go back to school to achieve the desire she had for haircare. In June 1980, she received her Associates in Art degree from Los Angeles Trade Technical College in Cosmetology. She would eventually do hair on the side while working full-time.
In June 1986, Loretta welcomed her baby girl, Crystalyn.
Loretta received Christ as her lord and savior while attending Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. She later joined Zoe Christian Fellowship of Cerritos under Sr. Pastor Ed Smith.
Loretta was an active member of church and was known for her generosity and willingness to help. She held weekly prayer meetings and bible studies in her home during her membership with Zoe Christian Fellowship.
Loretta would eventually leave Sears and begin her career working for the county. After over 10 years of working for the County, Loretta decided to retire early due to health issues.
Loretta was a lover of many things. Back in the day she used to get together with her sister and friends and compete in a good ole game of bidwiz. She enjoyed traveling and collecting souvenirs from all over the world. Family gatherings and a family potluck style celebration were considered good times for her. When she could, an occasional run to the casino with her sisters or cousins kept Loretta enjoying life.
One thing she always instilled in her girls was to keep God first in all that you do and to get out there and know your family. She loved her girls and grand-children deeply and would never tell them no.
