
Mark was born in Ft. Leavenworth KS on August 6, 1954 and spent a good portion of his youth in Naples, Italy. He served honorably for 9 years in the U.S. Army and earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering at UCLA, and a Master's of Science Degree in Engineering from Cal State University Northridge. Mark enjoyed a 29 year career in the field of Aerospace Engineering at TRW, Hughes, Quinstar Technologies, and Northrop Grumman.
Mark was passionate about catching the best waves from Malibu to Mexico, enjoyed playing classical guitar, traveling, stargazing, attending local musical events and spiritual retreats, many of which he enjoyed with his large circle of Bill Wilson's friends.
Mark touched the lives of many people with his generosity, love and support.
Mark is survived by his wife Catherine of Torrance, CA; son Mirko, daughter in law Nicola, and granddaughter Caitlin of Martinez, CA; mother Olga and sister Elisabeth of Arlington, VA; sister Maria of London, England, brother Roland, sister-in-law Susan, nephew Peter, niece Amanda of Salem, NH; and many cousins, uncle, and aunts.
He is preceded in death by his father Louis Roger Maher, and his uncle Pietro Stefanelli.
Viewing will be Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at White & Day Colonial Mortuary Chapel at 910 Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA. Vigil Services will begin at 7:00 PM at the mortuary.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10 AM at St. Catherine Laboure, 3846 W. Redondo Beach Blvd. CA with a reception to follow at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. Torrance, CA.
His remains will be laid to rest in Portsmouth, NH.
