Minnie I remember the first time I met you.  it’s always tricky when you meet someone for the first time you never know how it’s going to go. But then your smile and your laugh, warmed my heart and I knew that you were someone very special. Every encounter and meeting we ever had was always a joy, and I always walked away feeling so much better about life and people. You had a heart so big and we will always be truly grateful that you shared it with us. RIP sweetheart, I know you’re with the angels.

I’ve known Minnie forever (it seems like it).  She was so dedicated to everything she did and always had a warm smile to greet you.  Rest in eternal peace my dear friend.  And my deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Minnie was my first tennis buddy about 30 years ago and I still have a passion for it today because of her. I learned how to play when I met her in a tennis class and we immediately bonded and started taking semi-private and small group lessons together.  We were hooked and would play 3-4 times a week. We became good friends off the tennis court as well taking trips to Vegas and going to watch professional tennis matches. I am so blessed to have known her and had her in my life.

My dearest Tita Minnie, my second mom.  When I first met her after my mom passed, I wondered where she had been all my life. She helped me understand my mom better and was the motherly support I so needed in my life.  Although I only got to know her for a short period of my life, it was an honor to know her.  She kept it real, blunt, and honest but always felt like it came from a place of love. My kids and I were lucky to have spent some time with her in Vegas last year and made some wonderful memories that we will forever cherish in our hearts.  I know at least my mom and her are partying it up in heaven, making chismis as they watch over us.  We love you and miss you dearly mama.

Minnie meant so much to me.  I will always call it love at first sight.  She saw my potential, took me under her wing, taught me many things in my professional career.  She believed in me, fought for me, helped me get funding for my continued education at CSUDH.  For many years, she’s always been supportive and had great things to say to me.  I am honored to have made her proud with my accomplishments.

Tita Minnie became someone very special to me and my sisters starting in 2016. She was on a cruise with my mom when my mom passed away, and that heartbreaking moment was actually the first time I met her—in the midst of funeral arrangements. Despite the circumstances, she remained incredibly strong. She brought comfort, love, and light to that dark time, sharing beautiful memories of growing up with my mom in the Philippines and the bond they had during their school years.

She truly became our rock, and to me, she became “YOM”—short for “Your Other Mom.” I hope she knew how deeply I appreciated her presence and strength during those days. I wish I had had more time with her. She had this beautiful way of being present. She listened without judgment. She made you feel seen. She was funny, sincere, and full of this amazing zest for life. She seemed to move through the world doing what made her happy, not overthinking—just living fully, authentically. That inspired me more than she probably ever knew.

I miss her deeply. And I will always carry her with me—with love, with gratitude, and with so much admiration. Rest in peace, Tita. Love forever, YOD, Amanda (Ash) Law.
