Rena Lee Michel

Born December 7, 1942, in Longview, WA, Rena Lee was a daughter of the late Tom Barr. On February 20, 1965, she was united in marriage to Mike G. Michel, at Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, Seattle WA. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary February 20, 2011.

Rena was passionate about philanthropy and active in fundraising; a member of Toberman Settlement House Auxiliary, Torrance Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary, Little Company of Mary Auxiliary and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Republican Women Federated.

Rena is survived by her husband Mike, her devoted children, George and Lisa Michel, Peter Michel, Samuel and Cheri Michel; her grandchildren, Simon Kerr, Alexa Michel, Lukas Michel & Matthew Michel; her Mother Rena Barr; siblings, Betty Jo and Dick Swarick, Larry and Sherry Barr, David Barr; Nephews Ryan Swarick, Tylan Barr, nieces Banjettenshawn Botcher-Barr and Taylana Barr.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family, Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at the Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Boulevard, Torrance, CA 90503, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for viewing, including a 6:30 p.m. Trisagion prayer services and eulogy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 722 Knob Avenue, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Father Michael K. Courey, Pastor of St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, will officiate. The services will be followed by Internment in Green Hills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
