As teen-agers, Rita and I met in 1940 when we joined the Catholic Theater group in Detroit, Michigan.  Eventually, many of our theater friends migrated to New York, as did Rita and myself.      I am delighted and proud to have had Rita as a good friend for 70 years!      I will miss her.      Peggy (Richards) Seaton

Rita inspired me in so many ways. I met her on my very first study abroad with ECC to Ireland.  She was so full of life and so much fun. We shared a great deal of laughter. I traveled with her on a second study abroad to Italy and we were room mates. She was a marvel to watch and so full of energy. I remember many times younger study abroad participants would try to give her their seat on a crowded bus in Italy. Rita would not have it, and told them to stay put. I loved her dramatic and theatrical poses at various locations worthy of a photo. Rita was so enthusiastic about life and adventures. She was up for just about anything. My goal was to beat Rita’s record for study abroad trips with ECC.  I will remember Rita forever and feel honored to have known her. My prayers are with Rita's family.      Torie Chavez

My dear Rita was a true jewel. I had the most wonderful times with her as she went on each and everyone of my study abroad trips to Europe. She was my "Glamour Girl." She earned that title at the 1st meeting of our 1st study abroad trip together to London where I asked each participant why they wanted to go on the trip and what positive attribute they would add to the experience. Rita had a boa (it appreared as if from nowhere) and she flung it across her shoulders and said, ”I will be a positive addition to the trip because I will bring glamour to London.” Everyone cracked up! Rita really broke the ice and from then on was my "Glamour Girl". On many a trip Rita, along with my other grown-up travelers set the pace for fun and enjoyment. Rita, John and Sally taught the otherwise nervous and homesick college students how to have fun. Many times we would be laughing and hooting it up recanting some wonderful adventure we shared while the younger students looked on in amazement. They were surprised that us “old folks” could have so much fun! Rita was anything but old. She walked as fast as the best of them, never complained and partied until the wee hours. Rita really knew how to live and enjoy life. I saw two of the plays she was in in CA and one she directed, what a talent!       She taught me some very important lessons. On of which was to inspire me by saying “if not now Rosemary…when?” this become our motto for study abroad, we even have it printed on our advertisements for El Camino College.  Each year on a her birthday I plan to have a Jameson’s to toast my dear friend Rita who will be sorely missed.

Rita is most remembered by me as such a gifted and talented person. She was not scared of trying to do anything she wanted to do. I was fortunate to see her in a play last year in P.V. she was just wonderful. I will also miss going to the theater in Redondo Beach with her. She was the kindest person to me and she will and already was missed by me when she moved away.

Memories of Rita will always include her smile, her laughter and her wonderful attitude.  Rita chose to make every day special and life a grand journey.  What fun it was to hear the "Adventures of Rita" as she traveled the globe and tasted life everywhere with great gusto.  Rita was a Grand Lady   with style and we had the privledge of knowing her.  Rita made a difference teaching us how to live life fully.  She was a shining light showing us the way and we will remember...and with Rita in mind, we will keep her light burning and 'pay it forward'.   Thanks, Rita...your fellow classmate,

We were all blessed to know Rita whose zest for life was without peer.  Her contributions to El Camino College's Study Abroad programs will live on for years to come.  I have been truly honored to have known her and will always cherish the memories of the times when we were together on study abroad programs. May you enliven the heavenly chorus with your charm, wit and beauty, Rita.

What a joy it was to see Rita, her attitude was always upbeat no matter what the topic or circumstance.  Rita was a shining example of someone who lived life to the fullest and was an inspiration to anyone she met.  She will be a bright star in the heavens now.  Thank you Rita for your light and love of life.
