Robbie was born to Cecil and Bertha Langton. A lifelong native of Los Angeles, she graduated from Venice High School and went on to be in the first graduating class of UCLA’s School of Nursing in 1954. She married Donald Gerds in 1956, and had two children, Kathy (Jon) and Eric (Liz). She and Donald lived in Manhattan Beach since 1959.
She worked at South Bay Hospital in Labor and Deliver for many years. She got her MSN at UCLA in the late 1970’s. She taught UCLA, University of Hawaii and CSU Bakersfield. She served on the Board of Clinica Sierra Vista (Bakersfield) for many years. She was passionate about nursing and was always caring for others.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach. Memorial services will be held at the church on May 14 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
