Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, Ruth moved to Los Angeles, California in 1954. After moving to California, she met and married her now deceased husband Peter John Platamone in 1958, and they were married for over 59 years. Her parents Fred and Edna Mona owned a small grocery store which she worked at and managed the books. This led to an over 30-year career in accounting in the grocery industry. All people were drawn to Ruth as she lived her values in a most unassuming and genuine way. She had a bright smile, a vibrant personality, and loved hosting family get-togethers and celebrations. She was quick to help family, friends, and strangers. She lived her faith every day and remained involved with her church, St. Lawrence Martyr. She will be fondly remembered and missed by family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her sons Russell Platamone and his wife, Cheryl; Paul Platamone and his wife, Susan; her brother William (Bill) Mona and his wife, Helen; her 6 grandchildren, Athena Hollingsworth (Platamone) and her husband, Greg; Jason Platamone and his fiancé, Amanda; Bryan Platamone and his wife, Sierra; Nicole Platamone; Isabella Platamone; Kristina Theodorou and her fiancé, Chase, and her two great grandchildren Maverick Hollingsworth and Ellenor Hollingsworth. Additionally, she leaves her nieces and nephews, William Mona Jr. and his partner, Doug; Dr. Linda Mona-Hunter and her husband, Harry; and their two sons Kyle and Ryan. Also dear to her, Kathleen Ambrosi and many others.
