Samuel Shinya Uyemura, beloved husband of Evelyn Elwell Uyemura and devoted father of Kristen Nobuko Uyemura, was born on February 7, 1935, in Watsonville, CA. He grew up in Kobe, Japan, and lived in Chicago from 1954 to 1987.
He was employed as Chief Accountant at the Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters in Chicago for many years. In 1987, he moved to California, where he worked as an accountant at Totai America Corp. He passed away at his home in Torrance CA on December 2, 2025, at the age of 90.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions, Rice Center, located at 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503, on December 29, 2025, starting at 11:00 am. A Reception will follow at the same location from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
