Born in Newark, New Jersey, on May 5, 1943, Steve was the son of Edward and Florence (Brofsky) Keenberg, both of whom predeceased him, and is survived by his brother Larry (Melissa) of New Berlin, New York. Steve attended Rutgers University and graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry with a D.M.D. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy before beginning a distinguished 35-year career in dentistry, primarily in Miami, Florida.
Steve was known for his engaging sense of humor, his gentleness, his love of dogs and his devotion to his family. He met his wife, Susan (Orenstein), at a dance at Rutgers University in 1963, and they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage in April 2025. He was a dedicated father to their son Michael (Annette Otto), and a proud grandfather to Nik (Kaleigh Mercer).
A memorial service will be held at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions in Torrance on January 30, 2026.
