
Wilma Louise Stemmler, a resident of Redondo Beach for more than 60 years, passed away on March 19, 2003. She was born in Buffalo County, Wisconsin on April 18, 1920, the daughter of Paul and Louise Schultz. She attended country elementary school in the Mondovi, Wisconsin area and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1937. She worked at the First National Bank of Mondovi and for an attorney. In 1941 she came to San Diego, California where she met and married Albert Stemmler in September 1943. They moved to Redondo Beach in December of that year. She worked as a legal secretary in the Torrance-Redondo Beach area until her retirement in the early 1990's. She was a charter member of South Bay Legal Secretaries and at the time of her death was an honorary member of the organization. Her husband died in 1981 and she continued to live in her house on Avenue ''A'' in Redondo Beach until her death. She was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Redondo Beach and was a member of the Church's organizations - Kim Ministry, LWML, Vacation Bible School and Lutheran Braille Workers. She also served for 5 years as secretary on the Board of Directors of the church in the early 1970's. She is survived by her son, Paul Stemmler and his wife Susan and by her beloved granddaughter, Mina Stemmler, all of Torrance, California; one sister, Jean Christopherson of Minnesota; many nephews and nieces and cousins in the Midwest. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and three sisters. Visitation at the White and Day Mortuary on Torrance Blvd. will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 1 PM until 3 PM. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 706 Knob Hill, Redondo Beach at 11:00 AM. With interment at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kim Ministry, LWML at Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the Braille Workers, P.O. Box 5000, Yucaipa, California, 92399.
