

Longtime resident of Rossland born September 17, 1910 in Grand Forks, BC died February 5, 2003 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital at the age of 92.
Elmer could always be relied upon for good conversation at or near his corner lot as many of his old and new friends could attest. Elmer had been retired from his grocery business for over thirty years. He kept himself very busy those years helping family and friends.
Elmer was predeceased by his loving wife, Sadie, and brothers Frank, Bill and George.
Elmer is survived by daughters: Frances Thompson, Diane Horovatin, Theresa Richardson; and son, Richard Thompson (Carolee); grandchildren, Tracy Grinder (John), Kim Heier (Blair), Christie Valentine (Sean), Richard Garrett (Elizabeth), Leanne Mather (Scott), John Garrett (Jackie) and seven great-grandchildren.
Also survived by sister, Mae Bousquet; half-sisters, Nell Franklin, Emma Malone; and sisters-in-law, Laura Thompson and Tim Moen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Elmer’s life was held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Rossland, on Sunday, February 9, 2003 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Shelley Stickel-Miles officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Carberry’s Funeral Home (364-1211).
