Bethel “Pink” (Rosenburg) Purvis, age 89 of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Dec. 21st at Munson Medical Center. Pink was born May 15, 1931 to Fred and Mildred (Alexander) Rosenburg. On August 25th, 1948 she married her High School sweetheart Raymond Purvis. Together they raised three daughters, Barbara Rogusta, Geraldine (Rick) Worm, and Janet Purvis. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Bethel worked for R.L. Polk for several years as well as later for the State of Michigan License Bureau. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Cherryknoll Square Ways Club. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church until Christ the King Church in Acme was formed. She enjoyed shopping, and when it came to housekeeping and cooking, she was one of the best! She was loved by her family, relatives, and friends, and was always there to listen and advise them about their problems or accomplishments. She was also remembered for her timeliness, being sure to arrive ten minutes early to any scheduled appointments.
In the last few years of their lives, she was caretaker for both her mother and her mother in law. Besdies her husband and children, Bethel is survived by her sister Amanda Pouzar, brother Fred Rosenburg, and special niece Deb Poncar. She was preceded by son in law David Rogusta, and sisters Doris Toolie Tobias and Rita Poncar.
A memorial service for Bethel will be held at a later date at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
