Carol Ann Kroupa Zientek

Carol was born April 15, 1937, in Traverse City to Perry and Helen (Gowatch) Kroupa. She graduated in 1958 from the Henry Ford School of Nursing in Detroit, MI. She worked as an RN for 17 years at Munson Medical Center, Charlevoix Community Hospital, and the State Hospital in Traverse City. On November 8, 1958 she married the late Robert Frank Zientek at St. Joseph Catholic Church on the Old Mission Peninsula. Bob and Carol adored each other and together they raised three children. She was a devoted wife and mother. In 1975, Bob and Carol bought the Kroupa family cherry farm. Growing up on the family farm was one of Carol’s fondest memories. She thoroughly enjoyed growing cherries and was actively involved in running the family business. She also loved to garden, read and spend time with her family.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she contributed regularly to the St. Joseph Guild.

Carol will be greatly missed by her three children: Robert J. Zientek, Diane Zientek both from Old Mission, and Gregory Zientek of Munich, Germany. She is survived by her three sisters: Pat Ross and Gloria DeGroot of Traverse City and Marcia Harsch of Okemos, MI.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 7:30 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Edwin Thome presiding. Burial will take place at the Bohemian Cemetery in Bowers Harbor.
