

John was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School and studied under Prof. Leach at Albion College in Raku pottery while getting his Liberal Arts degree, and also attended Northwestern Michigan College's Aviation program. He became a flight instructor there and went on to fly Lear jets for Royal Air Freight in Waterford. Being semi-retired, he continued to work at the Grand Traverse Resort for many years, making many dear friends.
John was an avid bicyclist, building frames, wheels, and working on bikes. He loved the out of doors, skiing, canoeing, camping and target shooting. John spent many years singing and playing guitar with the popular bluegrass band, The Loose Caboose, throughout Michigan.
John is survived by his wife, Susan Hagaman of Traverse City; sister, Iris (Hagaman) Stricker and brother-in-law, Col. Richard Stricker of San Antonio, Texas; niece Kathy Muse; and nephews, Daniel and Mark Stricker and Paul Breagle. John was preceded in death by his parents, Dexter and Mary Hagaman, and sister Alice Hagaman.
Two memorial gatherings are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. with prayers at 10:30 a.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m., all at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. In lieu of flowers, please consider offering a donation to the family to help with medical expenses.
