John James Wegener, 78, of Traverse City, MI passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2019 at Ritter’s Assisted Living. John was born on October 8th, 1940 to John and Bernadine (Michels) Wegener in Detroit, MI.
John was a fan of watching sporting events on TV; especially Detroit Tigers, Lions, and the MSU Spartans. Most importantly though, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
John is survived by his sisters, Mary Mancuso of Venice, FL and Therese (Jack) Gaylord of Mesick; and his brothers, Robert (Pauline) of Empire, Bernard (Linda) of East Lansing, William (Carolyn) of Lake , James (Sue) of Traverse City , and Thomas (Cheryl) of Williamsburg. He was a proud uncle/great uncle of numerous nieces and nephews
John was preceded in death by his brother Joseph, Frank Mancuso, and his beloved dog, Sarge.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Traverse City at 10:00 AM, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
