Thelma Sedlacek (Stein) was born August 17, 1935 to Joseph and Crystal Stein in Buckley, Michigan. Thelma was a Graduate of Buckley high school and was an avid cheerleader and basketball player. In 1954, Thelma married George Poncar and they had one child. After several years of marriage, they divorced but remained good friends until his death. In 1974 she married Francis (Jake) Sedlacek and they resided in Kingsley, Michigan. Thelma took pride in her hobbies such as crocheting, sewing, gardening, and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Crystal Stein, son; George Poncar Jr., brothers; Willard (Bill), Delvin, and Joe, and sisters; Jacqueline, Pauline, and Ida (Dolly).
She is survived by her husband Jake (Francis) Sedlacek, Granddaughter Sara (Roland) St. Amand, grandson Billy (Cyndi) Sedlacek, and great-grandchildren; Aaron, Jonathan, Elizabeth St. Amand, Beulah, Frankie Sedlacek, sisters; Wanda Rushton and Yvonne Skellett.
A very special thanks to Brian at Kingsley Pharmacy, and good friends; Marcia, Rennie, Donna, and Barb. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26th from 11 am – 1 pm at the Covell funeral home in Kingsley with a short service following, and burial will be taking place at the Downs Cemetery in Buckley directly following the service at 2:30 pm. At 5 pm, there will be a celebration held in her honor at 721 Fenton Street, Kingsley, MI, 49649 and all are invited to attend to share stories, memories, and love that she shared with all.
