She was born in Richmond, VA the daughter of the late Sam and Edith Walker Ballas.
Dot was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband Johnny Brooks of Atlanta; her daughters, Joanne Thomas of Fleming Island, FL and Paula Reid of York ME; her sons, Stephen Brooks of Athens, GA and Jim Brooks of Jacksonville Beach, FL; her brother, Sam Ballas of Richmond, VA; her 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
