Edward Franklin Gunter, born July 10, 1919, died on April 25, 2019, at the age of 99. Ed grew up in Alabama, the oldest of 2 siblings. As a high schooler he enjoyed baseball and football. As a young man, he worked for a short time with the Alabama Highway Department of Transportation. In 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served for 4 years as an X-ray Technician. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Ed went to work for the Georgia Department of Human Resources as a Manager, from which he retired at the age of 59. He was very involved with his sons in Indian Guides and bowling and was an active league bowler himself. He also coached little league baseball and football for many years. Ed was a member of the North Decatur United Methodist Church with his wife Cebe. Ed is survived by sons Roy Gunter and Mark Gunter, daughter-in-law Laurie Gunter, and grandchildren, Melissa Gunter, Rebecca Gunter, Sarah Gunter, Jason Durgan, Chris Durgan, Brittney Gunter, Nathan Gunter, and Tiffany Gunter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cebe Gunter, and his sister Ivey Williams.
