He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise Fawcett; his three sons, Michael Fawcett (Terri), Thomas Fawcett (Betsy), and Philip Fawcett (Cindy); two step-children, Janice Vernon (Andy), and James Callaway (Rita); as well as many grandchildren and a joyful abundance of great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness throughout his life.
Floyd dedicated his professional years to a distinguished career in engineering and management. He retired from Lockheed Martin, where he contributed to the success of the C-130 and F-35 aircraft programs. Prior to that, he served as Director of Ground Operations for Eastern Airlines at their Atlanta hub. Known for his strong work ethic and steady, quiet leadership, Floyd left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
In retirement, Floyd became a pillar of the Park Springs Community where he and Louise shared many vibrant years together. Having enjoyed ballroom dancing for decades, Floyd shared his love of dance with others by organizing lessons and social events, always bringing grace, joy, and encouragement to the dance floor. He also earned the affectionate title of “King of Wii Bowling” for his years of organizing and championing the community bowling league – making the game accessible, fun, and competitive for residents of all abilities.
Floyd’s life was a testament to kindness, patience, humility, and deep love for family and community. His gentle spirit, thoughtful nature, and generous heart endeared him to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A graveside service will be held for the family on Saturday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA. A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at a later date at Park Springs Community, Stone Mountain, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be made to the Park Springs Foundation, 500 Springhouse Circle, Stone Mountain, GA, 30087, in honor of Floyd’s lifelong commitment to community.
