

Mrs. Baker was born in Madison County, GA on July 3, 1925 and was the youngest
daughter of James Lee Chapman and Lula Alice Brock Chapman. She attended Girl’s
High and Georgia State University where she met her beloved husband of 67 years, the
late Robert Head McAfee Baker. They were wed on August 12, 1945 at Capital View
Methodist Church and members of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church for 58 years.
Mrs. Baker was a well-known and outstanding leader of the North Fulton County PTA’s
(President), Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge (President Atlanta Chapter), Wesleyan
Day School (Administrator) and Board Member of WABE-TV. She worked tirelessly to
aide Georgia Legislators to pass pornography and drug legislation to protect young
children in Georgia. Mrs. Baker, a loving mother of eight children is survived by her
children Robert Head Baker, Jr (Sara Miles Baker), Maria Angeliate Baker-McAfee,
Phillip Gregory Baker (Sharon Baker), Katherine Victoria Zezima (Anthony Zezima), Mark
Timothy Baker (Nancy Baker), Edmund Matthew Baker (Deceased) James Lee Baker
(Kellie Baker), Margaret Elizabeth Chandler (Traci Childress); grandchildren Paul Baker,
Todd Baker, Kristin Sargent, Jason Baker, Christopher R. Baker, Brad Gilchrist, Stacie
Gilchrist-Zezima, Joe Zezima, Christopher M. Baker, Michelle Baker, Michael Baker,
Katie Baker, Maggie Baker, Madison Chandler; and great-grandchildren Hannah, Taylor,
Lukas, Emma, Dylan, Allison, and Abigail. Funeral services will be Sunday, November
20, 2011 at 3 o’clock at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Blair
Boyd-Zant officiating, and Rev. Melton McNeil. Interment will follow at Arlington
Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations
may be made in memory of Hazel Baker to the RBC Bank Prado, Sandy Springs.
