Mary Louise "Lou" Engelhart, age 86, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her home in Braselton, GA. Lou was a loving daughter, sister, Mama, wife, Nana and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jo Hobbs of Fort Gaines, GA, brother "Sonny" Hobbs of Nashville, AR, and her beloved husband of 47 years Bill Engelhart.
She is survived by her precious daughter Karyn and son in law Randall West, her granddaughter Hannah(Brett) Wilson, grandson Steffan West, great granddaughter Ryleigh Wilson, great grandson Aiden Wilson, all of Braselton, GA, sister in laws Martha Hobbs, Nashville, AR, Janet Johns, Cartersville, GA and Vicki(Bob) Young of Manchester, TN, Grand Goddaughter, Ashley Grier, Atlanta, GA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lou was born in Fort Gaines, GA, a place that was always near and dear to her heart. She spent most of her adult life as an accountant, continuing to work well into her 80's. She and her husband co-founded Business Paper Company. Together Lou and Bill enjoyed bowling on leagues for many years and made some life long friendships during those days. They went on many camping adventures with several families. They were members of Embry Hills United Methodist Church. Together they served in many areas and made wonderful friends there. Lou had a passion for gardening and genealogy. Both of these took she and Bill on many adventures and they found many long lost cousins who became dear friends along the way.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084. A Celebration of Lou's life will be held at the same location at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Greg Sweatt will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, 124 Thomas Street, Suite 1, Fort Gaines, GA 31751 Attention: Sheriff Locke Shivers.
Lou loved family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved a good meal and a good laugh and a good hug. She will be greatly missed!
