Mildred Harper Rivers of Decatur was born on October 7, 1921. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Eula Mae Harper, and her husband of over 66 years, Marvin Lee Rivers. Mrs. Rivers was a member of the First Christian Church of Atlanta for almost 94 years, having served the church in a variety of capacities during her lifetime. She is survived by her son, Richard Lee Rivers, Sr., of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Richard Lee Rivers, Jr. and his wife Tere, of Surfside Beach, SC; Bryan Douglas Rivers and his wife Beth, of Lexington, SC; David Owen Rivers and his wife Becky, of Tampa, FL; seven great grandchildren; her sister, Vivian Harper Holley, of Roswell, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am and a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. The Reverend Tom Edmonson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Atlanta, 4532 LaVista Rd., Tucker, GA 30084.
