

Anthony Lasean Matthews, 45, of Henderson Las Vegas and formerly of Tucson Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2019. Lasean or “Sean”, though called home young, had an impactful presence and unique ability to change the atmosphere wherever he went. From an early age, his imagination, love of laughter, family, and friendship were always at the forefront of his being. He genuinely cared for people. He was a very competitive sportsman. Playing Basketball (his first love), Football, and Baseball with every fiber of his being. He committed himself fully to the things that were of interest. Graduating High School in the Netherlands, Lasean attended Jacksonville University, and later the University of Phoenix. His charismatic way of being, took him all over the world. Starting out in Universal Studios in Florida working, his adventuresome spirit took him to the Disney Cruise lines; where he worked several years. Deciding on a new adventure, Lasean sought employment that would take him out to Las Vegas as a manager at a very successful renowned establishment known the world over. He had joy in what he placed his hands to do.
Lasean’s main hobby was fishing. His passion was to be out with his family, in or around a body of water, with a pole in his hands, hat on his head, sunglasses on his face, and a smile in his heart. Laughter was synonymous with his character. Whenever there was an occasion for him to cook or enjoy family over food, the atmosphere was joyful and filled with caring as his love was experienced by all.
Lasean is survived by his father, William A. Matthews; his mother, Ethel R. Matthews; his brothers, Reginald and Tryce; his son, Benjamin Simms; nieces and nephew, a large extended family and countless friends. We thank God for allowing us the privilege of experiencing a wonderful person. We take solace in this...we will see you again one day...
