

Arnold L. Thurlow, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home in Oro Valley, Arizona, on March 31, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on May 3, 1946, in Stewart, Nebraska, to Ralph Thurlow and Betty Oxner, Arnie lived a life full of love, laughter, and resilience.
Arnie’s legacy is one of dedication, warmth, and joy. He was a man who found purpose in both his work and his passions. A skilled professional in the lumber sales industry for over 40 years, Arnie also made a name for himself as a custom home builder. After retiring in 2014 from US Components, Arnie continued to live life to the fullest, always finding new ways to inspire those around him. His love for life was infectious, and he took every opportunity to make others smile.
Arnie was also a passionate dancer, sharing his love of west coast swing and two step by teaching others how to dance and spread joy on the dance floor. His many hobbies included tending to his indoor plants, gardening, cooking, and baking – especially making cakes for any and every occasion. Whether shopping for something new or enjoying his vast collection of books and video games, Arnie had an insatiable curiosity and zest for life. Above all, he was a master of humor, with an incredible knack for telling jokes and making everyone laugh.
Arnie was deeply proud of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Marilyn Thurlow, his son Richard Thurlow, whose bond with him was unbreakable and his loving daughter in law, Dawn Thurlow. Arnie also cherished his stepchildren Pam and Mark Harness, Matthew Hendricks, Angela Weinstock, and Molly and James Huffman, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Dylan Shaw, Dayna Barnes, Lilly Thurlow, Camyron Thurlow, Ty Thurlow, Taytum Thurlow, Tayte Thurlow, Pyper Thurlow, Nicole Zautra, Jeni Thurlow, Tami Thurlow, Eli Shaw, Ezra Shaw, Ezekiel Shaw, Finn Barnes, Ivy Barnes, RJ Martin, Melinda Hendricks, Reagan Martin, Faith Hendricks, Nathan Weinstock, Matthew Jr. Hendricks, Seth Weinstock, Gunner Hendricks, Asher Martin, Owen Martin, Ivy Sue Martin, Elaine Martin, Harper Martin, Jude Martin. Arnie also placed great value in his many friends who were like family to him and who brought joy to his life.
While he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him, Arnie’s memory lives on through the countless lives he touched with his unwavering love and laughter. Arnie was preceded in death by his son Robert Thurlow and his grandsons Grayson Thurlow and Rueben Weinstock.
A visitation will be held on April 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM, with Dylan Shaw officiating. Interment will take place on the lawn at 3:00 PM, where his family and friends will gather to say their final goodbyes.
Pallbearers will include RJ Martin, Reagan Martin, Dylan Shaw, Camyron Thurlow, Nathan Weinstock, and Seth Weinstock.
Arnie’s love for life, his humor, and his unshakable spirit will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man who overcame life's many challenges with grace, and in doing so, showed us all the true meaning of resilience and joy.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave to others throughout his remarkable life.
