

Barbara Joyce Claassen, 79, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 in Tucson. Barbara was born in Harlem, Montana on July 5, 1937. She was the second oldest of seven children. In her youth her family moved to Great Falls, Montana. It was there, while waitressing, that Barbara met her husband who was stationed at Malstrom AFB. The Air Force took them to Kansas, Okinawa, California, Arizona, and South Dakota. Barbara considered Tucson her home. She worked in the bakery for TUSD, and managed the Scoreboard Cafe at U of A. Cheering on the Wildcats, bowling, and traveling in the motor home were the things that Barbara enjoyed. The light of her life was her three grandsons, whom she adored with all her heart. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sharette, her brothers, Richard and Terry Sharette, and her baby, Regina. She is survived by her mother, Lillian Sharette, her husband, Leslie Claassen, her son, Boyd Claassen, her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and George Cuenca, and her grandsons, Griffin, Ryan, and Dylan. Services will be held at 2:00 Friday, April 28th at East Lawn, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson 85712.
