Betty’s strong work ethic began at a very young age working in the cotton fields of west Texas. She was also diligent in her educational efforts and graduated at Los Angeles high school.

Betty was an avid seamstress, an accomplished cook, which came in handy raising five children. Her sewing skills also benefited her church and her community. Her call to serve extended to St. Vincent de Paul, where she helped others in need.
Betty also volunteered for the US Forest Service with her longtime partner, William Parker, (USMC), in support of the Wild Fire crews.
