Betty Jayne Horan

Betty Jayne Horan 92 of Tucson, Arizona passed away in her sleep surrounded by family on Monday, October 20, 2025. Jayne was born in Fairfield, Connecticut on November 8, 1932, into a large family of ten children. She married her husband (William Joseph Horan) Bill Horan in April 1954. He was in the U.S. Air Force and that meant they were able to travel to many bases during his military career. Moving with a large family over the course of twenty four years came with lots of challenges. Yet, there was always excitement wondering what our next home would be like. After retirement they settled in Tucson, Arizona.

Jayne often said “I was born happy.” She loved her family and friends. She was quick to laugh. She listened so intently when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit or when she spoke with them on the phone across the miles. She loved reading a good book. She savored all kinds of food. She enjoyed long conversations. And she looked forward to taking time for “a stretch out” and to relax. Jayne was a combination of pure energy, kindness and love and was endeared by all who knew her.

We have so many happy memories and moments when we laugh remembering her zest for life and her enthusiasm. She was consistently positive. Each of us always carries a portion of her happiness with us every day as we move through the world around us. We love you!

Jayne was preceded in death by her husband Bill of sixty-six years in 2020. Jayne is survived by her five children. Linda Kranz (Klaus) Flagstaff, AZ, Kathryn Calloway Furman (Ken Calloway who preceded Jayne in death in 2002) (Randy) Kingman AZ, Bill Horan III Sierra Vista, AZ, Rory Horan (Laura) Yorktown, PA and Brian Horan Tucson, AZ. Jayne was a loving grandmother of ten grandchildren – Jessica Kranz, Nik Kranz, David Calloway, Jennifer Dunaway, Michelle Vedder, Jonathan Calloway, Kandice Kunz, Courtney Horan, Will Horan, and Brendan Horan and great grandmother to eight- Kenny 21, Connor 20, Olivia 15, Emily 9, Haylee 21, Korey 18, Jacob 13 and Jaime 10.

A private service for immediate family will take place at East Lawn Palms Mortuary in Tucson, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
