Christina Elizabeth Hanks

On January 29th, 2024, we lost our beloved mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother Christina Elizabeth Hanks. She was born January 5th, 1946 in Washington D.C. She grew up across the world, including Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; and Lausanne, Switzerland. She attended High School at Brillamont International School in Switzerland. She moved to Tucson, Arizona to attend the University of Arizona where she graduated with a degree in drama. She subsequently obtained her Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She loved sewing, theater, reading, travel, and studying history. She dedicated her career to supporting and advocating for the disabled community. Tina, (or Tatee, as many family members referred to her) dedicated her life to being a constant source of love, generosity of spirit, and unfailing kindness, to her family and friends. She and her husband retired to Mt. Lemmon, Arizona as full time residents. They lost their home to the Aspen fire in 2003 but did not let that deter them from living where they loved. She and her husband rebuilt their home where she remained until her passing. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hanks, her sister Caroline Furman,her niece and nephew Theresa Furman and Stephen Furman, her children Kymberley Waterman Moffett, and her partner Edwin Aguilar, Kevin Waterman, Kirk Alger, her grandchildren J.J. Moffett V and his partner Lyla Shaw, Owen Moffett, Bailey Moffett, Maisie Moffett, Safiya Waterman and her great grandson Ryder Lee Shaw. One of her favorite authors Leo Buscaglia, wrote: "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." She lived her life always with that in mind and changed countless lives for the better. Services will be held February 24th, 2024 at St. Phillip's in the Hills at 1:30 with a graveside memorial at 3:00 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery.
