
On Sunday, April 9, 2017, Ed Gilbert passed away at the age of 76. Ed was an icon in the electrical industry for well over 50 years and retired from the Saguaro Chapter National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) in March of 2009 after 16 years as Chapter Manager. Ed was instrumental in making many programs within the electrical industry the success they continue to be today. He wore many hats while he was with NECA, including being the Apprenticeship Training Director for the IBEW 570 and 518 jurisdictions, a Trustee and Chairman for the Southwest Health and Benefit Trust Fund, as well as the IBEW 570/518 Pension and Annuity Trust Funds and he served on many other committees and advisory boards throughout the country over his extensive career. Ed saw many apprentices turn out to be journeyman electricians and mentored countless individuals throughout his years. As an electrical contractor, Ed built a successful company, Gilbert Electric, which is his legacy. Ed will be greatly missed…
Ed is survived by his wife Debbie, brother, Alex and granddaughters Chantille and Shailyn. A private family service will be held. Please direct flowers to the funeral home.
