Eloise L. Howard, a long-time resident of Tucson, was peacefully welcomed into heaven on April 22, 2015. Eloise passed in her own home with the knowledge that she was deeply loved and that she will be ever present in the hearts of all who loved her. Born in Bozeman, Montana on February 21, 1921, Eloise was the youngest of five children. She attended Montana State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics. Following her graduation, she taught Home Economics for two years at Custer County High School in Miles City, Montana. Eloise met frank Howard in Kindergarten, but waited a few years before becoming sweethearts. They both graduated from the same high school and university, and were married in 1944. After World War II ended, they moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where Frank worked as a chemical engineer for Chevron Oil, and began to raise a family. Frank’s career transferred them for many years to Australia, and finally, Stamford, Connecticut. Following retirement, Frank and Eloise settled in Tucson in 1979. Eloise lived a good and meaningful life. She deeply loved her children Michael (Ella Mae), Patricia, Sharon (Ivan Jaffe), and Rick (Patty), and as well as her grandchildren, Joe, Kelly and Molly Howard. The feeling is very mutual. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Bobby”. Eloise is reunited with Frank and Patricia, who preceded her in death. Eloise loved socializing, sports, and being a grandmother. She golfed with women’s groups at Quail Canyon, Arthur Pack and El Dorado. Eloise was an avid fan of the Wildcats, San Francisco Giants, and San Antonio Spurs. Later in life, a reluctant but cheerful Duke basketball fan. She baked the best cookies, gave cards for every occasion and hated to miss out on anything. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you do any or all of the following: offer a neighbor a ride, listen to a child in such a way they will understand and that they feel they are the most interesting and special person in the world, pretend not to hear something that might bother you, show people you love them and or try not to miss out on anything. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Eloise’s kind neighbors, as well as the McCarthy and Fox families and Gentiva Hospice care providers Gail and Jessica.
