
Frank JR. Montgomery was born on October 31,1962 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Beatrice Blake and Frank Montgomery SR. He attended Alamogordo High School where he was the star left- handed pitcher for the school baseball team. He was known as Hawky due to his keen eye and awareness of everything going on around him including in school and sports. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in August of 1984 with his older sister, Valerie Johnson, his niece Teshia Wheeler and his two nephews Michael Wheeler and Reginald Johnson. When he first moved to Tucson he attended a local Tucson Electrical School, where he obtained the skills to work as an electrician. He then moved out on his own and he met Shirley Barnes and started a family which consisted of their daughter Fenisha Montgomery, and son Anthony Mathis together, his daughter Victoria Barnes and son Peter Wilson. Frank worked as an electrician for a while and then started his entrepreneurship by selling items and cars on the weekends at the Tanque Verde swap meet. He later in life started a family with Lashell Lamay they together had a daughter Funtasha Montgomery and he also raised his daughter Lashe Daniels, his son Prince Scott and he adopted and raised his cousins Shauntia Harper and Shinale Harper. At this time Frank known as J.R. or Jayster Berger expanded his Swap Meet Business and opened his first 3 pager stores in Tucson under the Name of Page Max & Cellular. He had great success with these businesses. He later expanded and opened up an Auto Body Shop on Tucson's southside called Discount Auto, Repair, and Installation. At the same time he also entreprenerd in real estate by buying and selling houses on the Eastside of Tucson and in Vail Arizona. He also has a clothing store called N-Style and also opened a night club in his hometown in Alamogordo. In 2004 JR. moved his family, all his children from both relationships, his niece and his great niece and great nephew to Vail, Arizona so that his family could receive a better education. Frank at this time met Elizabeth Settle and had a son with her who they named, Dominick Settle. Throughout the years he continued to sell cars, sell houses and run his auto body shop. Frank's last business adventure was opening a restaurant on the South east side of Tucson near Vail called “Ya Mama's Soul Food." J.R, Jayster Berger, Hawky, Frankie, Frank was loved by many due to the light and love he brought to your life. He was a blessing to our family and the many individuals that were privileged with meeting him and being a part of his life. J.R was the epitome of "One in a Million" He went on to be with his maker on May 14, 2025. He will forever be missed but never forgotten!
Survived by daughters Fenisha Montgomery, Funtasha Montgomery, Dominick Settle, Anthony Mathis, Peter Wilson, Prince Scott, Victoria Wilson, La she Daniels, all of Tucson, Arizona. Three Sisters Valerie Johnson of Tucson, Charlene (Nae Nae) Joseph of Alamogordo, Julie Barker of Humble, Texas, brother Herman Montgomery and Leonard Prescott of Portland , Oregon. Girlfriend Lashell Lamay, Nieces Teshia Wheeler, Shauntia Harper, Shinale Harper, Nephews Michael Wheeler, Reginald Johnson all of Tucson, Arizona. Children's Mother's Shirley Barnes and Elizabeth Settle of Tucson, Grandchildren 13, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews all of Tucson
Frank is preceded in death by his Mother Beatrice Blake, Grandmother Estella Ragland (Stella Kay) Blake, Step-Father Tollie Williams (Slim), his Brother's Randolph (JoeJo) Williams, Robert Hatchett Jr, Sister Georgene Williams
