Rick touched the lives of many.   He was highly respected by people who worked with him at Union Pacific and made many close friends there.   It was a pleasure to know Rick.  He will be greatly missed by many and forever in our thoughts and heart.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Rick for 47 years. His kindness and thoughtful actions followed him everywhere he went. Rick was always there for me and my Brother..from the bottom of Grand Canyon to the Intrepid Fox on East Speedway to passing out on the front porch at his Mom's house...Rick handled the situations with a resourceful finesse. Thanks Buddy!..But most of all I must thank Rick for getting me on at Tucson Greyhound Park. Returning from RVN and needing a job, Rick 'gave' me two of his nights at the dog track parking cars. This lead to me getting on full time and meeting my future wife. Been married to the program girl ever since..38 years

Rick...you left so soon...
But it wasn't our call to make. Our Lord Jesus decides who He will call Home, and when.

We had some very memorable times together. If it weren't for your encouragement, I may not have gone back to NY in 2005, after 18 years, and spent the special times with my Dad before he was also called Home suddenly...unexpectedly...only weeks after I'd returned to Arizona. I thanked you for that 'push' then, and I thank you again now.

I thank Dixie for introducing us, and for the relationship that followed.

You were, and always will be, a special part of my life. You touched everyone you knew, and also a lot strangers.

May our God of Heaven above bless, comfort and strengthen all those who mourn the loss of your earthly presence...especially your dear Mother, Alyce.

Rick. It's hard to say goodby because I'll always remember you as a friend. Your wit and humor and the wealth of knowledge you provided were beyond comparison. Your emails were amazing.

It was with much sadness that I learned Rick had passed away.  I had worked with him for many years on various mountaintop amateur repeater projects.

My condolences to the family in this time of loss and sorrow.

Rick, the Man that was a Ham. I mean to say he was one great Amateur Radio Operator, KC5EJ. He played such a major role in making our repeater systems exist on top of our Franklin Mountains. He worked, without complaining, on radio towers throughout the southwest for ham radio totally volunteering his spare time when he wasn't travelling the I-10 from El Paso to Tucson. 73 my good friend, you will always be on top of that great tower in the sky!! wb5ljo

To Rick, brother-in-law and uncle, you will be missed so much. I pray you rest in peace and now side by side with our Lord in Heaven watch over Cheryl, Desiree, Cody, and Andy.

Rick and I became close friends rather quickly,  we had many talks especially about  trains and close friend of both of ours and his horse Danny,   Rick you are truly an amazing friend, you will be missed very much.  Thank you for all the talks we had.   My prayers are with Cody, Dixie and family,

How does one express the pleasure to of known Rick. And I have known him since second grade. I think all the previous comments express the kindness within Rick very well. I knew Rick mostly prior to his Union Pacific era. I knew him when he cut the neighbors lawn; I knew him in the Boy Scouts and when he would go to Yuma to pick produce during the cool summers. I remember working with him at a Vet at 4:00 AM to clean and take care of racetrack greyhounds. I remember waking up in the morning while staying at his home overnight and I was tied to the bed wrapped with rope when I awoke. But my greatest time with Rick was our band era when we were in the Reason Why. Rick loved to play lead guitar and he was good. I think he would want us to remember the good times we had with him. He had humor, talent and forever industrious. I'm posting some pictures of the young Rick and his love for the band. Rick - thank you for being such a positive experience in my life. And it's not goodbye - it's hasta la vista-- till we meet again, my friend.

I knew Rick for many many years.  He was always there to give a helping hand or leand an ear when I thought no one else would listen.  I will miss Rick but I also know he is in a wonderful place right now.  My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones who have found a void in their lives that can only be filled with the love from one another.

Rick was such a good friend to our family. His loss came as a shock to everyone.  Thank you Rick for your many years of friendship with my father. You will be sorely missed.

Mr. fultz was Mr. Railroad.
A leader, advocate,composer,teacher trainner and a life saver.  Rick ranked high with everyone he met.  His contributions brought fresh ideas to new and old with his ablities & skills.  His dedication and understanding was shared by all.  The Union Pacific Western Region will miss him extremely.  May God be with you.

Rick was always there to help.  He never seemed to have a worry on his mind.  We were blessed to have him as a co-worker, but especially as a friend.  He will be missed.

Rick was always ready to help and was a good friend. He touched countless people through his life and will be missed. He always had a smile in the 30 years I was around him.

There is place in our hearts saved for each one of the fellow workers we have worked with in which we have spent as much if not more time with other than our family's own. Rick was a surrogate father for my wife Annice and me for the past 5 years. He was always there for us in troubled times and ever present for the good times. He has been a grandfather to my son Gabriel (7)and most recently to Michael (born 6 months ago). He has spent countless holidays with us as well as just coming down to spend the weekend and take Gabriel fishing or just play legos in his room... He has left a void which cannot be filled. 

We love you Rick, with all our hearts, see you after a while...

Rick was a valued friend and always first to help in all aspects of his life. I enjoyed working with Rick over the last 13 years or so.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
