FRED GARNER, age 86, of Benson, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at home. He was born in Crab Orchard, KY on January 29, 1935. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Garner (Way), daughter Debbie Ann Allen (Garner), son in law Ronnie Dean Allen and son Jeff S. Garner, and grandson, Dustin Garner, his parents Charles R Garner and Verla Mae Garner (Roberts), brother Raymond Garner and sister Margaret Ann Smith (Garner). Fred was a mechanic by trade for most of his life. He retired at an early age due to arthritis, but that didn't stop him from doing things he loved. He drove a church bus for over 50 years and would often talk about the kids on his bus and wondering how they are now. He loved spending time in any garden he could find. One of his greatest joys was to can all the vegetables he would pick, friends would also bring things from their garden for him. He always managed to find someone that had fruit as well so that he could make jellies and apple butter. He was famous for his biscuits and gravy and banana cookies. Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He would go out of his way to help others. He is going to be dearly missed by all of us.

We will miss Fred and his ability to cherish those around him. He made everyone happy with his fruit and vegetable jars! He is now in heaven with his loved ones that passed before him. We will miss him dearly, but we will be left with memories of him that will live in our hearts forever.

As a teen ager, I was the captain for bus #1-Bro. Garner's bus. We spent many wonderful hours together picking up children for church. As I became the bus minister at TBT, Fred continued to drive. He was a faithful man. He was also our mechanic for our car the whole time we were in Tucson. I have thought of him often the last 25 years of being in Salem, Oregon. I look forward to seeing him in Heaven.

Tommy and I remember Fred with such joy. He was such a generous servant of God. He drove the TBT church buses for many many years faithfully. He loved each child who rode on his bus. He kept the buses in good repair too. He will be missed by so many of us.

Fred was a grandpa to everyone he met, me included even though I wasn't blood. He'd fix things at my house when he visited, share recipes and give the best hugs. His faith in our Heavenly Father gives us peace knowing Jesus himself welcomed him home! Thank you Grandpa, you were so special!
