Jacqueline accepted Christ at a young age under the leadership of the late Reverend JE Milton. Later in life she became a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Jacqueline attended Tucson Unified School District to receive her early education. She graduated from Tucson High School in 1972. She graduated number 7 out of a class of over 700 students. She received a National Merit Scholarship with Phellps Dodge as her sponsor. She could have attended college anywhere but she chose to attend her beloved University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree in 1976. She bought season tickets for the college basketball and football at the U of A. A few years later she attended the University of Wisconsin where she earned a Master of Science in Nursing in 1978. Jacqueline was a true Christian which showed all throughout her life. She received great joy in helping others, especially her family. She was a humble and compassionate person. She never talked about her skills or her profession as a nurse or educator.
Jacqueline was over the Board of Nursing in the state of Illinois for 12 years; she set the standard for nurses. She was the Director of Nursing for much of her career that expanded 42 years. The last job she held was at Navajo Technical College in Thoreau, New Mexico where it became a University with input from Jacqueline before her retirement. She was ill at the time but because they really needed her expertise to keep the program open, she agreed to accept the position. Jacqueline also created the first nursing program in Flagstaff, Arizona at Cochise Community College. She taught at various colleges around the county including Pima Community College and Clark County Community College.
On Thursday, July 27, 2017, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave her permission to come home. She pressed toward the mark, finished her course and is now resting in his arms. The family mourns her passing but without a doubt, they bow in humble submission to the will of God. She is in a place where we are all striving to spend eternity. The family is truly grateful to the Lord for allowing her, as long as he willed it so, to be a part of their lives. The memories of her wisdom, love, grace and humbleness will continue to sustain us in the days ahead.
