James "Jimmy" A Navarro

Beloved Jimmy Athol Navarro passed away peacefully at his home in Tucson, Arizona on November 17, 2022. He was born in Pratt, Kansas, and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Roselene. Jimmy retired from the Sunnyside school district as a mechanic, after previously working elsewhere as a heavy equipment operator, welder, and expert butcher.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Carmelita Navarro, and 8 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Roselene, children Lestra Nevarez (Alfonso), James Navarro (Laurie), Rebecca Holman (Michael), Yvonne Urbalejo (Tony), eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy loved spending time with family and helping them in any way he could, including repairing their cars and home construction projects. He also enjoyed caring for his home and his lovely trees. Jimmy had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, including at weddings, funerals, church choir, and family gatherings. His selflessness, humor, laughter, and devotion to his savior Jesus Christ will long be remembered and cherished by family and friends. His favorite bible scripture verse is now fulfilled: “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord!””(PS 122:1)

Jimmy was an inspirational presence in the lives of those he met, and often parted ways with the words, “I love you with all my heart, Dios le bendiga.” He was the heartbeat of the family, and our hearts will ache for him until we meet again…

A visitation for Jimmy will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Calvary Chapel, 5170 S Julian Dr, Tucson, AZ 85706. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 5170 S Julian Dr, Tucson, AZ 85706. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
