

Jim Walters was born on October 25, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Ed and Maxine Walters. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1951, where Jim later graduated from Amphi High School in 1958. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy.
In 1962, Jim married Laura Gray, and they shared over 63 wonderful years together. Jim dedicated over 60 years to the architectural metal and glazing industry, earning respect and admiration for his hard work, skill, and integrity. He also generously volunteered his time for many years on the stat crew at the University of Arizona, supporting both football and basketball programs.
Jim was a devoted father to his sons Greg, Chad, and Ryan (Debra), and a loving grandfather to Nichole, Taylor, and Bailey. He cherished time with his great-grandchildren TJ, Rowan, and Dillyne. He is survived by his wife, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brothers Patrick (Sue), Bill (Judy), and Steve (Sandy), and his sisters Pam (Don) and Shelley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeff.
Jim had a passion for travel and adventure. He and Laura explored the world together, enjoying white-water rafting and flying over glaciers in New Zealand, cruising on the Alaska train, and traveling through Europe. He spent many cherished years in San Carlos, Mexico, where he owned a condo and loved fishing and walking the beach.
A skilled and proud builder, Jim constructed his own homes in Washington State in 1970 and Tucson, Arizona, in 1974. Building and creating gave him great joy, and he treasured these accomplishments.
Jim was also deeply involved in his community, coaching soccer for Tucson United for several years. He loved his family, his French bulldogs, and was admired for his strong work ethic, kindness, and generosity. He was a role model to many, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his wisdom.
Jim’s life was defined by love, dedication, adventure, and family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, with a funeral service at 2:00 PM and burial at 3:00 PM.
