John Marshall Causbie

John Marshall Causbie, 88, passed away on December 27, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born October 8, 1937, in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Jefferson and Frances Causbie. After growing up in Oregon, he studied engineering at Southern Methodist University. He married Nancy Keesee in Tucson in 1966.

John began his insurance career in 1959 with the Arizona Property Rating Bureau in Phoenix, Arizona. He spent seven years as a Special Agent with the National Union and the Royal Insurance Groups in Arizona and California. John moved over to the agency side of the business with Pan American Underwriters in Los Angeles as their Underwriting Manager.

With Pan American, John set up an agency underwriting authority from CNA and INA Insurance Companies, before moving into production as an agent in 1973 with Fred S. James & Co. in Tucson. John then joined Lasher-Cowie in 1987, which was sold to HRH and then merged with Willis in 2008. In 2019, John joined Crest Insurance Group where he worked until shortly before his death.

As a lifelong learner, John was recognized as an insurance expert and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others in the industry. Outside of work, he focused on model trains and was still actively buying, selling, trading and repairing trains and building his library of parts and reference books up until his death.

He enjoyed sports and played football and basketball in high school and college and spent many years coaching his sons and grandsons in little league baseball.

John was very proud of his family and how his children, with different strengths and interests, respect and support each other. He enjoyed introducing everyone to Disneyland; his first visit was in the summer of 1955, and after he had children he took his family almost every year. His last visit, with all his kids and two of his grandkids, was to celebrate his birthday in 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, located at 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, on March 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
