

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell Steven Strong and Velma Jo Strong. He is survived by the love of his life, Evelyn Winnifred Strong, his son Steven Todd Strong (Karina), his grandchildren, Natalie Strong, Nicole Watson (Josh), Trent Strong, his son Mark Clifford Strong (Donita), and his grandson Tyler Strong.
Dr. Strong chose a life dedicated to medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas, School of Medicine. It was there too where he completed his residency in rheumatology. During residency, Steve cared for the most important patient of his life, Evelyn. After completing residency and helping care for Evelyn, the two married. Steve proudly served his country as a flight surgeon in the Air Force. He then completed specialty training in Denver, Colorado, and moved to Tucson, Arizona, to join Holbrook Hill Medical Group. Dr. Strong practiced rheumatology in Tucson from 1972 until his retirement 46 years later. Throughout his career, Dr. Strong was an active member of Foothills Forum, VIP Breakfast Club, Christ Community Church, the Advisory Board of the Arizona Arthritis Center, and other service organizations. In addition, Dr. Strong made multiple medical missionary trips to Africa, Central America, and Mexico. After retiring, Dr. Strong continued to pursue his life’s passion and served as a guest lecturer at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Community Church, 530 S Pantano Rd, Tucson, AZ 85710. A Private family committal will then follow.
