Josephine Doughty

Josephine Janet Rood-Doughty went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 13, 2011. Jo was born April 6, 1936 in Monclaire, NJ and moved to Tucson, AZ with her parents in 1945. She worked as a hairdresser for 50 years at a retirement home and two nursing homes. She loved working with the elderly, was active doing things for her family and friends, and serving the Lord. God's love shone through everything she did and she had a gift for being able to cheer others up. For many years Jo cared for her invalid husband and her beloved mother. She fought a good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith. Jo is in heaven with her Lord and loved ones and is no longer in pain.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Anton and Bernice Strauss; great-nephew, Daniel Schmidt; B. Charles Rood, and stepson, Vincent Doughty.

Josephine is survived by the light of her life, husband, Robert Doughty; her daughter Jaye (Daniel) Blanzy; sons, Chuck (Wahneta) Cornell, Bob (Karen) Rood; stepdaughters: Ceresa Williams, Nicki (Ed) Lorenzen, Tabitha Doughty; stepsons, Russell Doughty, Bobby (Liz) Doughty; her sisters, Anne (Nick) Nickelson and Jean (Phil) DuBois; her special friend and niece Phyllis Bentlage; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 4:00 PM at Tucson Baptist Temple, 1525 S. Columbus Blvd., Tucson. Flowers are through Throop Florist 887-5000.
