Born in LaFayette, Kentucky on August 22, 1936, to William and Effie Stagner, Lacy was the youngest of ten children—each of whom preceded him in death.
Lacy was a veteran who served his country with honor for over 25 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed across the world in places like Thailand, Alaska, Texas, England and West Germany before finally settling in Arizona at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, he was known for his steadfast work ethic, mentorship, and fairness. He had a gift for bringing out the best in others, often advocating for the advancement of women and fostering a spirit of respect and collaboration wherever he went. After his military retirement, he continued his career in civilian service as the Airfield Manager at Davis-Monthan AFB, where he worked nearly two more decades before retiring in 2000.
In his personal life, Lacy was devoted to his family. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Helene, until her passing in 2015. Together they raised two children—Jim, who preceded him in death in 2018, and Susie, who survives him. He was a proud grandfather to Gina Neder (Ryan) and a loving great-grandfather to Eva, Alex, and Wyatt Neder. He was a loving husband, father, grand-father, great grand-father, uncle and friend to many who will miss him deeply.
Lacy’s kindness extended well beyond his family. He greeted everyone as a friend and treated each person with genuine respect. Even after great loss, he met life with grace and humor. His joy could be found in simple pleasures: hunting with friends, watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right religiously, a cold Dr. Pepper, a good cheeseburger, and an afternoon game of BINGO.
He will be remembered for his gentle heart, his laughter, and his unshakable optimism. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
A Celebration of Life for Lacy will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 2pm, at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ, followed by inurnment.
