On March 3, 2026, at the age of 83, Leonard S. Raymond, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, stepped gently into the presence of Jesus Christ his Savior. Leonard, known by most as Len, was born on July 11, 1942, in the sunny city of Tucson, Arizona, to his loving parents, Leonard and Marjorie Raymond.
Len lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his deep commitment to his family, his faith, and his work. His journey began in Tucson, where he graduated from Tucson High School in 1960. His academic pursuits led him to the University of Arizona, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering. His passion for learning and innovation was a constant throughout his life, culminating in a career that included roles at Rockwell Manufacturing Company, the University of Arizona, and Raytheon Missile Systems. Len also ventured into entrepreneurship as the sole proprietor of Pima Sensors, where he explored his love for circuit design and invention.
Len served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1964, stationed at Hill and Vandenberg Air Force Bases. It was during these formative years that he honed the skills and discipline that would guide him throughout his career and personal life.
In 1966, Len married the love of his life, Harriet, on September 16, at Sleeth Chapel, First Baptist Church of Tucson, embarking on a beautiful journey that would span nearly six decades. Together, they built a loving family and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. Len was a devoted father to Lenette, Bryant and his wife Wendy, Doug and his wife Becky, and Julie Snyder and her husband Jon. His grandchildren, Ash, Ryan, and Aleah, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Len’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. As a young boy, he accepted Christ as his Savior at Bible Chapel in Tucson, a commitment that only grew stronger with time. He was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church and El Camino Baptist Church, where he served in numerous roles, including deacon, Chairman of the Board, and a beloved 5th-grade Sunday School teacher. His lessons, filled with God’s love, Biblical truths, and a generous helping of Oreos, left an indelible mark on countless young lives.
Outside of his professional and spiritual endeavors, Len was a man of many talents and interests. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed tinkering in both wood and metal, constructing his dream workshop in his backyard. His adventurous spirit led him and Harriet to explore the world through travel and cruising, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Even in his later years, Len continued to invent, always seeking new ways to solve everyday challenges.
Len is survived by his cherished wife Harriet, his loving children and their spouses, his treasured grandchildren, his dear sister Jerry Bee, and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Bud. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and faith will endure forever.
The Raymond family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of Tucson Medical Center and Peppi’s House for their compassionate care during Leonard’s final days.
