Schoonover, Margaret Mae, 93, passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2020, at her home of 70 years. She had seven children, 22 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Born on May 11th, 1927, in Thompson, North Dakota, she met her husband of 66 years Percy Schoonover in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in a dance hall during World War II, where she loved to dance. They were married three years later and moved to California while he was still in the military. In a small house, several families had to share the same kitchen, and she taught all the newlywed military wives how to cook. After this, they went back to North Dakota, where they started the family. Margaret’s family then moved to Arizona in 1949, where they continued to grow the family and stayed for the rest of their lives. She devoted her life to raising and loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Margaret never stopped loving to dance throughout the years. She enjoyed bowling, business with TRICHEM, painting, driving the family business farm trucks, and never stopped being a hard worker. Margaret was a stalwart negotiator who kept the family business prospering and kept the family in the custom combine business. She also enjoyed family camping trips to Roosevelt Lake with her family. There is no doubt that we will miss her greatly. The coffee was always hot, and advice was always given. One of Marana’s pioneers is gone and will be missed.
