Marietta Sue Winters, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, and most importantly, Grammie, passed away peacefully in 2025 at the age of 84. Born in 1940 to William and Willomae, Marietta lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to her family, community, and faith.
A woman of many roles, Marietta was known for her boundless love, infectious energy, and dedication to service. As a homemaker, she always ensured that her family had everything they needed. She was a dedicated Tupperware lady, forging lasting friendships and creating a sense of community wherever she went. As a teacher’s assistant, she provided invaluable support to both students and teachers. Later, she served as a Director of Recreation for the City of Tucson, enriching the lives of many through her work.
Marietta was also an active and loving member of Central Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School for nearly 30 years, sharing her faith and wisdom with generations of children. Her service to others extended far beyond her professional roles; she was a committed volunteer in her children’s lives as well. She proudly served as the President of the PTA, a leader in the Mother of Twins Club, and as a team mom, cookie mom, and room mom – always eager to support her children and their friends in every way possible.
Marietta's love for her family was unparalleled, and her most cherished role was as a mother and grandmother, affectionately known as "Grammie" to her eleven grandchildren. She adored them beyond measure, considering them her greatest blessing, and never missed an opportunity to show them how much they meant to her. Marietta was proud of each of them, and nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with them, attending their birthday parties, listening to their stories, and watching them grow. Her love was unconditional, and she was always ready to spoil them with affection, gifts, and adventures, making them feel like the center of her world. A sanctuary of warmth and laughter, Marietta's legacy of unconditional love, patience, and selflessness will live on through her grandchildren.
Marietta’s legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and tireless service. She leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew her. She is survived by her five children, Lisa, Bill, Eric, Kelly, and Lynda as well as eleven grandchildren Brenden, Braydon, Brooklynn, Brittain, Liam, Evie, Caleb, Noble, Chi, Eric, and Amber – and many dear friends.
Marietta’s love, energy, and joy will continue to resonate in the lives of those who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
