Marty was born on March 5, 1943 in Newark New Jersey, where he grew up. He worked his way through Community College, then enlisted in the Navy where he served for two years. When he was discharged, he attended Western Michigan University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in printing. Following college, Marty moved to Chicago, and pursued a career in printing and sales. In 1981 he met Carol, who became his wife on July 23, 1983. They were happily married for 37 years.
Marty became a very successful salesman and he and Carol were able to travel extensively both in the States and abroad.
After twenty years in his chosen profession, Marty developed several neurological and respiratory problems and he had to retire in 1995. He and Carol left Chicago for Arizona where they lived until his death.
Marty's last wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the ocean, which his wife plans to arrange.
