I am writing to offer condolences to the family of Mary Hurst Cole, who played clarinet in the Portland Junior Symphony from 1939-1940, the nation's first and now longest surviving youth orchestra. 

I had sent an alumni newsletter to Mary this month and it was returned as undeliverable to an address in Tucson. There are not many alumni left from this era. I know two living in Portland at this time. May music be a comfort to your family in your loss.
